Florida Number 3 for human trafficking in the US.

How did we get here? Is it that we did nothing for too long?

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

Notable suggestions on slavery today.

Again we can turn to the wisdom of Abraham Lincoln to muse on the devices of slavery.

" We must free the slaves or be ourselves subdued." Abraham Lincoln

Its an in-depth statement that poses the question of the future for the free person that takes no action to free the enslaved person. If we indeed stand fast on the principle that 'we can do nothing to stop such a great problem so the effort isn't worth the doing', then in time we too will see and be directly affected by slavery.

It may not come to each of us individually in a personal way but, in time each of us will know someone intimately that will suffer from slavery. Our very families will feel the blow of a person that has been forced into a life of trafficking and slavery. Exploitation will await us all if we do nothing today to slow its progress.

The commercial sexual exploitation of women and girls is like a little yeast in the dough. The longer it sits the greater it rises, eventually corrupting the entire mix. This crime against the dignity of our daughters is sin and sin if not checked with spread.

Edmund Burke once said "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."

The questions today that we must ask ourselves are; if I do nothing will the exploitation of women go away on its own, and if I ignore the problem will I manage to escape its results in my own life?

Think about it then do something about it.

Abraham Lincoln on Slavery

Who better to say something simple yet completely profound. Summing up the necessary attitude of the American and Christian relating to slavery.

The great emancipator, Abraham Lincoln wrote in a letter dated April 4, 1864 to A.G. Hodges "If slavery is not wrong, nothing is wrong."

This is the state that the world is living in. Nothing to the world is wrong. But we are not the world.

If we as Americans watch the liberties given to us by our Creator, be taken from others that are forced into 'secret' slavery, then can we say that we stand for what is truly the idea of America?
And further can we say that we are living for Christ if we ignore the fact that some people are forcefully, being prevented from hearing the Gospel of Christ?

The common thread that America and Christianity share is that, they both are not tangible items that can be purchased or attained but rather something lives inside of us. Something that defines our character, an cherished idea and belief that sets us apart in the world.

We must, as an requirement of who we say we are, engage in an action that denounces and displaces the very foundations of what is the greatest atrocity known to man.

Words are powerful when directed to purpose but actions are needed to support the words we use.
